So we will be running Eclipse Phase here in the store at some point. eclipsephase.com/Details to follow. We will be getting the books in soon. If anyone is interested, please let us know. More players equals more merriment. And everyone doesn't have to be an octopus.

Do not listen to the Clegg, it lies. It burns us with its lies.
Only Octopi. My eight-armed brethren shall rise against him for this.

For those interested in Octi, we have Panopticon in. This is the book that discusses uplifts. It also goes into detail on surveillance (it's everywhere, but everybody has access to it). Also a cool section on habitats. All the different space stations and stuff. It even has a synthetic morph for a octopus.

Hmm, I am starting to see what you see in the Octi. It's the tentacles, isn't it. Something about certain sea monsters that you like?
How about a space whale living and working in the corona of the sun. For reals!

Ok, so for those who like exotic, yet advanced science fiction, we will be running Eclipse Phase here in the store from 5:00 to 9:00 next Thursday. (Not Thanksgiving). So come in and learn about the setting. Maybe making yourself a Martian, or a swarm of little robots. Or of course an octi if you so desire. Can't imagine why you would though. ;D Or even Space Monkeys!
That's Eclipse Phase. In store. Thu. Nov. 29th.

But of course. All are invited. First session will be more of a get together and go over the game. What happens further will depend on how many show up. Will need at least 3 players to actually play, but don't actually have anything planned for the first Thursday. That being said, if enough show up early, and everybody is ready, we might start something then.

And apparently Facebook is broken. $@*@%! piece of shite.

Muse? The green eyed girl over in the corner? She’s not your type. What do you mean, not my type?Cop. AGI. Pleasure Pod. Cop. Cop? Should we move on?Corporate Cop, Terragenesis. Engineering cop. Habitat inspection, sabotage and failure investigation and prevention, putting things together again after the explosion. Cares more about Barsoomian saboteurs than smuggling, unless you’re smuggling explosives. Not with the vice squad? No record of her working with vice, or in the sex industry. There are warnings that if you touch her unexpectedly, without invitation, you are apt to get eel ware shock. Not exactly a prude, she’ll respond to the correct approach, but she might be as close to a prude as you’ll find for someone or something wearing a pea pod. What is the correct approach? You’d want to be a fan of neo classical or microgravity ballet. You might have seen her as the Winter Queen in the Nutcracker. You might have played against her in soccer or quidditch, with or without gravity, thrusters or a rocket pack. You might be another cop, with a lead on saboteurs or war stories to tell. You might have a girlfriend who needs really elegant smart armor that doesn’t look like armor. You might truly dislike some particularly ugly piece of infrastructure, and want it replaced by something elegant. You might have an opinion on Terragenesis internal corporate politics, terraforming - preservation trade offs, Mercurial social crusades, or Autonimist - Corporate posturing. No recommended pick up lines?Rumors of my omniscience are greatly exaggerated. Her name? You’re kidding, right? AGI? Pea pod? Cop? Ballet dancer? She’s Anathema. Waste of a good Friday night. All right. Anathema Belle. Most call her Anna. Her close friends, she has some, mostly dancers, quidditch players, cops, and engineers, call her Belle.
For those who don't know the background, most to all people in the game background have a 'muse', a built in artificial intelligence that has access to the network and can access a lot of information. By a lot, just consider today's internet a child's toy. Thus, if you're going to pick up a girl at the bar, one can ask one's muse for her background and then some. If I'm in sync with Jeremy, all of the above information and more could be trivially accessed by anybody. Though in my head I suspect she has done a few jobs with vice, and has managed to keep it secret unless one does a lot of digging.

Is it johnnyboy who made the raven? If so, let me know so we can finish your character. I will be at the store Wed night as usual. Though it's starting to look like the beginning of Thu night might be some finishing of characters and tweaking of stuff. Oh, and if any one wondering, I believe we will be starting on Locus. Yeeee.

Eclipse Phase tonight. Due to some people not being ready, looks like we will still be finishing up character creation. Hopefully getting a start on the adventure. This will be that last Thursday that non adventure related work will be permitted. The rest of the week is fine, and I will be there Wed if anybody needs help or want's to make a new character.
So let's get this show on the road.

Ok, great. We are on then. Barring some kind of disaster of course. But that only makes sense. If it's some kind of apocalypse, then we will wait until it gets warmer out.

I've been reviewing the Core Rules combat stuff. One major discovery. Some less important stuff. On page 138 in the character creation section, initiative is (REF + INT) times 2. This results in a number in the 1 to 100 range. On page 189 in the Combat section, Initiative is defined as Intuition + Reflexes divided by 5. This results in a number in the 1 to 10 range. My character's initiative changes from 92 to 9.2. The initiative roll is Initiative - wounds + 1D10. It seems to me that page 189 would be correct, page 138 wrong. Initiative (page 189), wounds and 1D10 are all in the 1 - 10 range, so adding them together feels right. In the trail combat, with an initiative of 92 + 1D10 I was pretty much guaranteed the first action. Under the Page 189 definition, I'd have pretty good odds but no guarantee. Page 193's Combat Modifiers chart lists three degrees of cover, minor, moderate and major, which generate -10, -20 and -30 modifiers to hit, respectively. In the trial fight, I never got more than minor cover, though Mercedes was in position where only her head and gun arm was showing. We might want to talk a bit about what it takes to get moderate or major cover. There are lots of ways to get bonuses to hit, not many ways to defend one's self. I for one would like to give the victim a bit of a chance. The game is more tactically interesting if maneuver and cover are important. I also discovered I was short changing Mercedes' pistol. She can fire twice in a complex action, fire 3 shot bursts twice in a complex action, or unload 10 shots in fully automatic mode. There are bonuses to hit or wound if one starts spraying lots of bullets around. I may switch to a light pistol just for the bigger magazine. I'll let y'all know if I spot anything else interesting. Bob / Mercedes P.S. Mercedes would be my character's Firewall cover name. Fawn (or Fawn Doe) is her current cover name or street name. Her 'real' name that she has used for some time hasn't come up yet. Edit: Confirmed. Page 189 is correct. See eclipsephase.com/downloads/eclipsephase_errata_major_1.2.1.pdf
