Since we've had such a solid group of players coming in every Saturday, I figured it might be nice to hold a quick poll to see what armies everyone is playing. This will give us a sort of overview of what's been going on in the store, as well as helping those of us who might want to start new armies a sense of what's "open" if you want your army to be different. Also, I think this would be a good place to keep track of which person plays which armies; after you vote, please submit a comment with the same information, so your name can be associated to the votes. That way, if we specifically want to play against a certain army, we know who to ask to hook us up, and if we want to play a specific person, we'll know what their options are. So, I've been wondering what people's stances are on big games. Possibly very big games. As most of you know, it's my dream to have a 10,000+ point Apocalypse game at the store some time this summer, but I wanted to see where people stand on the large, but not Apocalyptic scale, battles. I'm also interested in working up some kind of (possibly video) battle report, but that can wait.
Related to the above, I really want to play a 3000ish point game. Anyone care to take me on? Bring the best list you can, I want this one to be really competitive.

Well, that could have gone worse. The Out of the Abyss group took a hell of a beating, and after fighting against long odds, were ultimately overcome by their captors. Things were looking ok up until the point where Mistress Ilvara and her junior priestess showed up. Zyra died in a magical explosion, Salith (drow NPC prisoner) was blown into the lake and lost, one drow guard was stabbed to death by Buppido (derro NPC prisoner), and both Kester and the other Drow Guard that had been on duty were brutally murdered by Mistress Ilvara in the aftermath. How DARE those guards not properly shackle the prisoners, and how DARE anyone try to leap off the ledge to escape? She was very upset with everyone involved. Revy has a nice, heavy gag to remind her to keep quiet when the Mistress is talking, and about a third of the prisoners are now chained to the wall in addition to being restrained, because they're too strong to let them have free range of motion.
(For reference, both Zyra and Kester's players WANTED to change characters, and I got their permission to have them die in dramatic fashion to forward the emotional style of the campaign. I would never just do that spontaneously, but it WAS certainly very convenient.)
((((I'll post something about the other group later.))))

The Out of the Abyss group got off to a roaring start by pretty much immediately starting a huge fight (throwing chamber pots around their prison cell) that quickly turned into an attempted prison break (throwing potential party members through the cell door). The first push is going...not great, and the drow guards have raised the alarm, and more bad guys are on their way to subdue those pesky prisoners. Can the party fight against these odds? Can they survive the volleys of crossbow fire laced with Drow Knockout Poison? Two of them have already gone down...it's not looking good. And most importantly, will the frightened little mushroom-man named Stool be ok?
On the other hand, the Princes of the Apocalyse group has gotten a good deal done. After clobbering some bandits last week, they've pressed on and invaded a haunted tomb, looking for treasures. The guardian ghost took exception to their presence, and when they finally brought him down, they found themselves accosted by monsters who wanted to keep the tomb and its treasures for itself! They've survived so far, but how long will they be able to hold out? I'm told their next foe is much more dangerous...The legendary Lord of Lance Rock!

Oh man, last Wednesday was great. We had something like 9 totally new people come in to learn about 5e and build characters, and I'm really excited for going over General Rules in Play and doing the basic Combat Test next week.
AND, good news! So far, we've got two new guys who are looking to become store DM's, for both Adventurers' League as well as casual play, and that's pretty awesome. Once we get ourselves settled into reasonably balanced groups (in both size and party composition), I'll add them to the list of active DM's and reorganize this post to have the current groups posted here.
CURRENT GROUPS (as of Feb'16):
Out of the Abyss: Adam T., Wednesdays at 6pm -Derek [Tiberion, Human Barbarian] -Matt [Revy, Human Rogue] -Cassandra [Norb, Gnome Bard] -Ross [Zed, Human Barbarian] -Adam F. [Archimedes, Half-elf Wizard] -Jim [Kester, Human Druid] -Hannah [Glasha, Half-orc Cleric] -Cassie [Zyra, Halfling Bard]
Princes of the Apocalypse: Dave, Wednesdays at 6pm -Jay [Monk] -Curtis [Warlock] -Emily [Fighter] -Ryan? [Fighter] -Ryan?'s Dad? [?]
Adventures in Menzoberranzan: Ryan, Wednesdays at 6pm -Mark [?] -Tom [?] -Will [?]
Matt, TBD - {This game hasn't started yet, because we're working on nailing down a day/time.}
These parties were last updated 2/11/16, with whatever information I happened to be able to remember at the time. As we go, I'll update this listing as needed.

Normally, I'd be there from 10-4, but it suddenly struck me that this weekend is pretty much the worst one to try to play 40k. Unfortunately for my boyz, the next Magic Pre-Release is this weekend (which I totally forgot about until someone reminded me last night), and the entire store is going to be taken up by everyone battling it out in a big card tournament. It's the first one we're hosting at the newer location, too, so we're really going to be strapped for space.
If you're into Magic, I definitely recommend you come in and check it out, but if not, then unfortunately you're going to have to wait a week before we could get in a game. I'll be way too busy organizing/running the tournaments to play, this week. I'm really sorry I got my weeks mixed up--rain check? Any other Saturday would be good by me.

Hey, welcome to the forums! I'm always available for a game on Saturdays, though since I am an employee and on shift, I may have to wander off occasionally to talk to customers. If no one else takes you up on your offer, though, I'd be happy to. My orks are always looking for a good scrap.

I may as well step up first. I've decided to declare my allegiance to the Adeptus Mechanicus; specifically, the Skitarii. I've even got a list put together.
Skitarii Maniple
Troops Skitarii Vanguard 10, 200pts -The Alpha is my Warlord -3 Plasma Calivers, Omnispex
Skitarii Rangers 9, 109pts
Heavy Support Onager Dunecrawler Squadron, 190pts -Onager with Mindscanner Probe -Onager
Now, since it's only Tuesday, I may edit my list a bit before Saturday, but this should be the gist of it. If anyone wants to try any practise games to see how their army performs, I'll be happy to play if I have time.

Previously, there was a "sleepover" in the quarry area, but unfortunately you weren't able to turn up much of substance. Another wild goose chase?
Yesterday (May 6th), the party decided it was time to check out those rumors of a plague by a local landmark some 15-20 miles outside of town. Well, Wilfred decided, and the rest of the party kind of panicked when they found out they were walking into a "plague zone", which was fairly hilarious. Paladins can cure diseases, though, so they pressed on.
The party discovered a natural cave system that had been slightly modified to be more livable...which is ironic, given that the cave was full of undead. Zombies, skeletons, and bear suits, oh-my! After making a lot of noise, and nearly getting their faces clawed off by animated zombie hands, the party came face-to-face with the deranged necromancer at the heart of the caves, THE LORD OF LANCE ROCK! BEWARE THE PLAGUE THAT AFFLICTS ME! GO AND FLEE LEST YOU BE TRAPPED FOREVER WITH THE LORD!
...Yeah, that meeting didn't go so well. It was certainly complicated when the party couldn't decide on a united course of action; Shakara attempted to pacify THE LORD OF LANCE ROCK with apparent subservience, but the more bloodthirsty and/or morally motivated party members prepared for battle, spoiling the mood. Shakara made no attempt to directly help the party with the battle, and may have even switched sides! What a tweest!
Has she been mind-controlled into supporting the self-proclaimed Lord? Has she really betrayed the party, to side with the mad necromancer? Or is there some grand, as-yet unrevealed ruse at work? With half the party down, or on their last hit point, everyone else was forced to retreat for a time to regroup and heal up. Next time, we'll see what Shakara and the necromancer have been up to, and see if the party has what it takes to bring the Lord down.

Uh-oh. Seems like the rumors of "legendary treasure" were false, unless you count a few hungry stirges and an out-of-place silver spoon.
Luckily, everyone made it back to town in one piece, and there are plenty more rumors in and around town to run down. They say there's been a lot of weirdoes, bandits, and monsters around...I wonder if any of them are friendly.
Yeah, probably not.
Rumor List
--There's a fabulous treasure hidden in Tricklerock Cave. Nope, just bug bites and wet stones.
--Bandits have been causing trouble out on Cairn Road. They were mysteriously mauled to death by a bear. Pay no attention to the eldritch blastmarks. --The quarry workers swear there are spooky guys haunting the quarry at night, but the owner's unconvinced. You investigated this a bit, but haven't found anything yet. --People are saying there's a plague by a local landmark called Lance Rock. And that plague's name is THE LORD OF LANCE ROCK! BOW BEFORE THE LORD OR BEGONE! --Someone saw a ghost in an old tomb near town.
