Hello fellow gamers!
I'm an old codger at 46. Before marriage and kids I played D&D when it was pretty much the only game in town. Graduated eventually to Magic:TG, played the pro-tour, judged, had multiple Black Lotus, Moxes, etc. I still have a few MTG trophies in my game room. lol
Those days have long since passed and I have long since sold all of my Magic Cards (got out of the game when Fallen Empires was new - got in just before Legends).
Now that my son is 13 I have tried getting him into gaming. It doesn't compete with XBOX. But I have got him to play a few of the lighter games. Ascension, Dungeon Dice, even Marvel Dice Masters. But I seem to have struck gold with "X-Wing Miniatures." I traded a lot of failed games away to amass our ships.
We are still very new at the game in spite of having enough to build almost any squad.
That brings me to the original reason for this post:
Does anyone play X-Wing on Sundays? It seems to be very popular on the net with a alot of activity, but it seems games are popular based on stores and regions. What's popular at one store might be non-existent at others.
Medievil Starship is the closest store for me. Been in there a few times. Lots of room, kind people in there, and a nice clean atmosphere. I'd be happy to come there on a Sunday with my son and play a few X-Wing games if anyone else there plays.
The short post on this thread is, "does anyone play X-Wing on Sundays?" Does it have any sort of fan base at Medievil Starship?
If so I'd love to coordinate a loose time frame where we could meet up and play a few games. I have a lot of "stuff" but I don't have a lot of experience with the game. Would be fun for my son and I to play opponents other than each other.
Most of my collection of ships isn't supposed to arrive until Wednesday (Dec 10th) So the following Sunday would be our best chance.
If anyone at all is interested in a few games I'll be happy to come down and I'll bring my son too if he doesn't have plans. If ya don't mind entertaining an old fart like me and giving me a few games I'll see if I can't give a good game back. And maybe I'll learn a few things. My fantasy is to have my son and I attend some form of OP for the game. That would be a fun father/son activity for me.
If there is a healthy X-Wing community there and people are interested in Organized Play I would be happy to eventually work out some form of Organized Play with the store too if it's anything they're interested in.
And that's that.
I usually see a lot of WarHammer there as well as Magic. WarHammer is too rich for my blood relative to how often I'd get to play. And Magic? That ship has long since sailed for me. X-Wing is right about perfect for me. Love the tactics involved.
I'll check the thread every so often to see if anyone who reads this is interested in playing a few games.
