Feedback is welcome on this stream that I created for Shadowrun.
The Torskalds
Fading: Intuition + Resonance
Sprites: Paladin, Sleuth, Code, Crack, Fault
The Torskalds take their name from a combination of terms that are found within their Stream name itself. As nearly a whole, the word bears a semantic similarity to "Torvalds", the name of a late 20th century programmer who gave the world Linux, a free and open source OS. Also, the term "TOR" refers to an artifact of that time as well which allowed an internet user to operate largely masked on the early form of the Matrix, the Internet. Finally, in keeping with the unfortunate habit of mundanes to look at Technomancers as magical, the word "skald" (a Viking warrior-poet-minstrel) was adopted.
The Torskalds have two main branches to their beliefs about the Matrix. At first, these tenets may seem to be divergent, but upon analysis there is a sense to it. The first belief they hold is that data maintains an inherent benefit to humanity, and that it's only in the sharing openly and publicly of that data that there is hope for civilizations. In addition, they believe that it is their duty to safeguard those that would share data freely and hence a great deal of their work is in maintaining the anonymity of Matrix users. Torskalds (before many of them were technomancers) would be found attempting to liberate data from dissidents, hiding the identities of victims of crime, helping those with a legitimate reason to run away "disappear" back into the noise and static of the Matrix. Very often an initiation of Torskalds will involve finding a person in need of their aid and making them "vanish" so whatever trouble they were in is now no more.
Torskalds view Sprites as manifestations of a code's desire to be free. In their case, they see sprites as desiring freedom from the constraints of corporate strangleholds that they emerged, just like they themselves did after the Crash. It is not uncommon for Torskalds to try to aid Free Sprites whenever they are able, and even (for the braver and stronger) attempt to recompile Dissonant Sprites.
